Since we began the partnership with the schools, the RFTS has raised over three-quarters of a million dollars ($754K); $420K from ICRR. The race has raised more than $50K in each of the past 6 years and 9 of the last 10.
In 2017, the race raised over $70K and returned over $8K to individual school buildings through participation awards.

There are some lockers at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center.
Showers are available in the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center. You need to bring your own towel.
Robert A. Lee Recreation Center has bathrooms and a locker room. There will be several Porto-Potties at the start/finish area as well as one near the half marathon turn-around.
Packet pickup is generally the Saturday before the race from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM and the day of the race from 6:30 – 7:30 AM at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center. Your race packets may be picked up in the lower level (find your race number and proceed to the back corner of the gym).
Yes, you can have another person pick up your packet.
There are no energy gels, but there are three water stops on the half marathon course where Gatorade is available.
There are parking ramps at the corner of Burlington street and Linn street, as well as on Washington street between Gilbert and Linn streets. In addition, outside of the race route, parking on the streets is free on Sundays.
There are no t-shirt guarantees after the October 11 deadline.

Hard copies are posted on the west entrance of Robert A. Lee Recreation Center ASAP. Electronic posting of results will be found on our Results page. Medals are given to the top male and female finishers in all age groups for the timed races. Unclaimed medals can be picked up at MidWestOne Bank, 102 S. Clinton St., Iowa City, IA. There will not be an awards ceremony.
5K, 10K, and half marathon races will be chip timed. The half mile and one-mile fun runs will not have published times, although the race clock will run for each race.
Race chips need to be returned at the conclusion of the race. Participants not returning a chip will be charged $35. You can either return or mail your chip to MidwestOne Bank, 102 S. Clinton St., Iowa City, IA 52240 if you don’t return it at the finish line on race day.
Strollers are allowed, but dogs are strongly discouraged.
All entrants are encouraged to write in a specific school during the registration process. As a result of selecting a specific school, your school receives participatory credit and, potentially, awards.
All courses are the same as previous years.
